  • My professional carrier could be divided in two categories, 31 years of experience in the field of design, installation and commissioning of accelerators and accelerator related systems and rest 6 years are dedicated to managerial experience in coordinating with inter-ministerial national and international agencies.
  • Implemented 12 inter-governmental agreements for collaboration and peaceful application of Nuclear Technology.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Officer on Special Duty, Branch Secretariat Department of Atomic Energy (Sept’ 2018 – Present)

  • Directly working under Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), a Ministry under the Prime Minister of India’s office (PMO)
  • Responsible for coordination across 31 DAE agencies and institutes for efficient execution of India’s Nuclear Energy R&D programs
  • Liaising and building relationships with global inter-governmental agencies, IAEA, Government Ministries, Academia and Industry for the integration and application of peaceful uses of nuclear energy in India and globally.

Project Director, Global Center for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP)(Sept’ 2018 – Present)

  • Leading a team of 20 engineers/scientists and 1000 contractual staff in a newly set up institute responsible for imparting training, conducting research, design and development of nuclear systems that are intrinsically safe, secure, proliferation resistant and sustainable.
  • Implemented 12 inter-governmental agreements for collaboration and peaceful application of Nuclear Technology.

Head, Technology Transfer and Collaboration Division, BARC (Aug’16 – Aug’ 18)

  • Responsible for dissemination of 150 DAE spin-off technologies in the area of Engineering, Medical, Chemical & Advanced Instrumentation across India through extensive collaborations & outreach with Government, Academia and Industry

Head, Folded Tandem Ion Accelerator Facility (FOTIA), BARC (July’02 – July’16)

  • Led, managed and supervised a large team of 50 engineers and scientists for successful upgradation of 5.5 MV Van-de-Graaff Accelerator to 6 MV FOTIA at BARC
  • Solely responsible for design, testing, installation and commissioning of High Voltage System, Gas Handling System and Ultra High Vacuum Systems of FOTIA at BARC
  • Oversaw and managed all aspects of operations and multi-disciplinary research activities in collaboration with BARC scientists in the field of nuclear technology
  • Collaborated with international accelerator facilities at CERN, GANIL and Fermi Labs for joint design, development and supply of accelerator components
  • Developed ultra high vacuum compatible beam line diagnostic components like Beam Profile Monitors, Faraday cups, Slits etc. for use in accelerator programs
  • Led the successful fabrication, installation and commissioning of Slow Positron Accelerator and it application for material science research at BARC
  • Identified root cause of beam transmission losses through folding magnets and improved performance by designing and setting up switching magnet and experimental beam lines
  • Member of the Particle Accelerator Safety Committee for safety audits of 7 Accelerators facilities and 2 Accelerator Projects in BARC

Officer in-charge, Pelletron Accelerator Facility, TIFR, Navy Nagar, Mumbai (Sept’85 – Jun’02)

  • Integral member of installation, commissioning, assembly and operation of 14 MV Pelletron Accelerator Facility
  • Liaised and coordinated with external construction contractors and vendors to ensure installation and set up within allocated budget and deadlines
  • Led the installation & commissioning of Super Conducting LINAC, Phase-I for accelerating heavy ions at TIFR
  • Identified root cause of recurring breakages in Pelletron charging chain and developed a customized solution to resolve the issue
  • Improved base vacuum in super conducting NMR magnet to reduce liquid helium boil-off and enhance the performance of magnet
